Hockey - Our National Game :)

I received this mail from Anurag sometime back. If this is true, it is indeed a shameful act by the government.
An excerpt from India Today:
Indian hockey players to go on hunger strike
Press Trust of India
Chennai, September 26
Irked by the “step-motherly treatment” meted out to the Indian hockey players, as compared to the emoluments given to the winning Indian cricket team, the team members have decided to go on a ‘hunger strike’.
Chief Coach of the national team Joaquim Carvalho was peeved that while title victory of his wards in the Asia Cup was ignored, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and the state governments of Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Karnataka announced cash awards for the cricketers for winning the Twenty20 World Cup.
“Why our hockey players are being treated like orphans and why our politicians are biased against hockey, the national game?” Carvalho asked.
Carvalho said, “We are grateful ever to the President of India for her sending individual letters congratulating the hockey players for their Asia Cup win, without losing a match.” He said a coach and four players had planned to go on hunger strike before the Karnataka Chief Minister’s house to protest announcement of Rs 5 lakh cash award each for the members of the cricket team, while “treating the State hockey players like dust”.
Carvalho said, “The Karnataka CM till date has not congratulated hockey players from the state for the Asia Cup win.”
“Coach Ramesh Parameswaran, manager R K Shetty and four players (Vikram Kanth, V R Rahunath, S V Sunil and Ignace Tirkey) are to go on hunger strike before the Chief Minister’s house,” he said.
This is our India dear friends. Anything is possible… Keep reading this blog, will post more stuff.
A great dialogue to summarize Indianism.
August 19, 2007 at 4:18 pm | In hindu, india, muslim, terror | No CommentsThere is a fantastic movie called as ”The Ghost and The Darkness”.
Om Puri is one of the Indian actors in this film.
There is a powerful dialogue in this movie which I found very correct.
“The blacks fight the white, the whites fight with the black. The blacks fight with the Indians. The Indians fight with the Indians.”
How true… This is indeed the reality.
How many times do we call a person by the region or the cast he belongs to??
The answer has to be nearly everytime.
How much do we respect other community’s culture? May be, never.
India might be culturally rich but patriotically, there is a lot of work to be done.

An Image showing the outcome of Hindu Muslim Riots.. It is indeed shameful.
Lotus - Our National Flower
August 17, 2007 at 11:25 am | In national symbols | No Comments
How many of us have seen lotus in last 2-3 years? It is a very rare flower and can hardly be seen in Metropolitan cities. No no, I am not saying that you cannot spot it up, but only in shops.
So shall we say that selection of Lotus as our national flower was not correct? I think I cannot say it as of now.
If Lotus was our national flower, why was the authority granted to BJP to use it as their election symbol? In villages, people still do not know about political parties. All they know is their election symbol. So a normal villager will say - “Humko kamal nahin haath achchha lagta hai”. Isn’t it something bad for our national flower?
Organizing rallys to break and demolish Mosques under the name of our national flower? Is it correct? Come on, Lotus, our very own lotus require some sincere respect, which is out of books and merely education.
Let us hope to see some respect for our national flower in the future.
Preamble to the constitution
August 15, 2007 at 8:23 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsI searched for “constitution of India - preamble” on the internet and Molu returned me 161000 results on its web search category.
http://themolu.com/results1.php?mainsearch=constitution+of+India+-+Preamble&rating=1
I was amazed to see the huge number of sites containing the searched text. I always thought that the young generation of India doesnot care about the visions and beliefs of our country. But I was proven wrong by the number of websites as well as their per day reach. India rocks man..
So here is the preamble -
WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
-
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
-
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
-
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all
-
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
To start with….
August 15, 2007 at 8:18 pm | In constitution | No CommentsWhat a wonderful day to start off on something which I wanted to do for a long time now. I wanted to write something on India, my mystic India. But hey, don’t get confused, I am not only going to write about the good things, I will cover the bad things as well.
All I require is blessings from the elders and love from the young. Hope you will help me out.
Regards,
Himanshu
